Truncal Nerve Blocks

Rectus Sheath

• Anesthesia of the cutaneous nerves for the anterior abdominal wall, above the umbilicus
• 10-15cc of 0.25% bupivacaine/ropivacaine

Transversus Abdominis Plane (“TAP”)

• Anesthesia of the cutaneous nerves for the anterior abdominal wall, below the umbilicus
• Oblique Subcostal (OS TAP): covers T6-T9 dermatomes; Traditional TAP: T10-L1 dermatomes
• 20-30 cc of 0.25% bupivacaine/ropivacaine
